Another ordinary rural cottage rotting away in the woods on the outskirts of a large village. The door was closed with plywood, but the window next to it was just large enough for me to squeeze myself in. Do you notice the can of pickled cucumbers, by the way? That’s one of the most commonContinue reading “The Shepherd’s Cottage Part I”

The Sailor School
The party was over, and so was my first period of summer holidays. I spent the final Sunday roaming around the city where I was for the party. I first tried to locate this beauty, but sadly it had been demolished. So I turned my eyes to the old sailor school seen in the firstContinue reading “The Sailor School”
The Barbed Wire Villa Part II
Another room with another fireplace. Almost as if this room was a mirror of the previous one. I was starting to get deeply saddened by the state of this place. Another set of double doors. Another entrance to the stairway. I believe, that the upstairs has originally consisted of two or three smaller apartments. There’sContinue reading “The Barbed Wire Villa Part II”
The Barbed Wire Villa Part I
Welcome to another familiar location. This is the barbed wire villa, which I already found the previous summer. The doors were open already back then. But I didn’t enter, as the place was full of barbed wire. I didn’t want to risk falling and injuring myself, because I was alone. This time I came withContinue reading “The Barbed Wire Villa Part I”
The Carpenter’s Workshop Part III
Moving back towards the front of the upstairs to see, what’s there. The harness racing pages of a tabloid newspaper. Sadly I can’t determine the date. A room full of seatbacks. Amazing. And a cupboard with a lonely chair. A very old looking photorealistic drawing of a young child. A saw, which really has seenContinue reading “The Carpenter’s Workshop Part III”
The Carpenter’s Workshop Part II
A book on the basics of photo editing. Another suggestion about the photographer past of the building. A calendar from 2000. The woodworking company was still in business back then. Of course it is possible that they didn’t use the building any more after that. The end of the corridor. The roof of this areaContinue reading “The Carpenter’s Workshop Part II”
The Carpenter’s Workshop Part I
A new town, new adventures. I met an old friend of mine, who has also become an urban explorer, and she told me about a location, which almost certainly was accessible. This here is an early 20th century carpenter’s workshop, which according to its name, mainly manufactured furniture. It went out of business in 2004.Continue reading “The Carpenter’s Workshop Part I”
A Year Passed, But Nothing Happened
And here we are again, back in the regional hospital residential area visited in 2020. According to documents from the planning department, this is the former residential building of the chauffeur and gardener of the lung illness hospital originally located in the area. It has since served as a storage and has been abandoned forContinue reading “A Year Passed, But Nothing Happened”
Another Home Of Criminal Minds
Welcome to yet another amazing and absurd story from the Finnish real estate business. This here is a block of flats built in the 1950’s. I find it a rather nice building. It sits empty in the very center of a successful Finnish town, which is actually growing in size. Back in 2014 it wasContinue reading “Another Home Of Criminal Minds”
No New Shirt For Me?
Walking on the streets of Lahti after exploring the chapel drinking the cold beer I just received, I spotted this. I was pretty unsure what it was, but it seemed like it was abandoned. The sign says Jousi-paita. This is a shirt factory, the last male shirt factory in Finland. It went bankrupt in 2013.Continue reading “No New Shirt For Me?”
