To Go Or No Go?

As I was moving deeper and deeper into rural and sparsely populated areas, I encountered more and more buildings, which looked like they possibly could be abandoned.

But were they?

A traditional old village store, where the store is in one end of the building and the store owners have lived in the other end. The store section does look abandoned and the yard a bit unkept.

But the windows to the apartment wing look much fresher, and there’s always the doubt: Does somebody still live in here?

Visiting abandoned buildings and yards is not exactly forbidden in Finland. It’s in a grey zone. But trespassing into places, which are still inhabited is a crime. And that’s why in uncertain cases I often back down and leave.

This was the case this time.
