A Millionaire’s Useless Second Home

The final location of the evening was the one, which I didn’t previously know about. While having dinner with my hosts, they told me, that right in the heart of the town on a hill overlooking a large lake was a Russian millionaire’s house, which was empty. Back in the days before Russia’s attack to Ukraine it was quite common for rich Russians to own lavish properties in Eastern Finland and shuttle between them and Russia.

And here it is.

The house is fairly new, but the yard is completely unkept. There were cameras, so I didn’t go any closer.

It was actually on sale. I can’t remember, if the price was over or under a million, but it was extremely high for a house in a town, which everybody is leaving, even though it is luxurious.

I didn’t get any closer. I returned to my hotel, made Instagram posts of the day and opened Tinder. There’s a reason why I’m telling you this, but you don’t get to know it yet.

The following day I went to the interview I had arranged. After that I had lunch with a local friend. There’s a reason why I’m telling you this, too, but sorry. You just have to wait. The following event in this story is, that I left town after the lunch.
