The sleeping beauty is still sleeping. I’ve covered the story of this villa previously here. But I’ll give you a brief.
This is a more than 100 year old Jugend style villa, one of only three of its kind in the area. Back in the 1980’s the detail plan was changed so that the villa’s large lot was divided in three and one house would occupy each of the lots.
Someone bought the villa and applied for a demolition permit. That was when the authorities woke up to the values of the building. The permit was declined. That was the situation back when I took the previous pictures.
Since then nothing had changed at the villa except that the second house was completed. But a lot had changed. The owner applied to the city about the declined permit. He next applied to the administrative court, who denied the appeal. He went all the way to the supreme administrative court.
The court gave its verdict later that summer. Permission granted. The reason was, that the demolition permit could be given according to the detail plan, and the city had had 40 years to change the plan to protect the villa, which they didn’t do.
The building was demolished in 2022. It was one of the most stupid decisions I have ever seen by anyone.
