That Thing Looks Familiar Part II

A horizontal view from the living room. The chaos is just unbelievable.

Another beautiful old chair with a box of cookies. And some very old looking books.

A former couch and a window to the porch – a rather unique feature. Makes me wonder, if it was built as an indoor space later on like was the case with this house.

That thing looks familiar. It is an Olympia typewriter from 1963 and it weighs about 18 kilograms. How do I know this? I have an identical one at home. I got it from a friend just a day before Finland was closed down because of the covid pandemic. I fixed it and mine is actually in a working order. That one isn’t.

Yet more vintage from the 1970’s. The co-operative Mäki-Matti was closed in the 1980’s. The bag seems to be from 1976.

The most modern thing I’ve found so far: newspapers from 1984.

And suddenly and unexpectedly a telephone catalogue from 1999. I have to declare the date of abandonment of this location extremely uncertain.

The kitchen. It looks like nothing has been done to the house since the 1970’s. And yet the catalogue is there to remind that there was life in the 1990’s too.

The kitchen featured a nice view of an old town in the early 20th century.

Even newspapers from 1972 have been preserved. The time span of the media inside the house is 27 years.

Kitchen towels and potholders have been left where they were when life here vanished.

Everything that could be explored downstairs has now been explored. Despite the awful condition of the building, I decided to go have a look upstairs.

Once again the upstairs was just one open attic. Notice, how the collapse has started not only next to the chimney, but also in the left corner.

There were still clothes hanging on a rack like nothing had happened. The amount of fruit boxes is also pretty striking.

The other end of the building, which was in a far worse condition than the other one.

There’s no business going there.

A box of the Tampere match factory. Funnily enough the former factory was one of the most famous urbex locations in Finland, but sadly before my tours. It has been out of bounds for years and will be rebuilt to apartments.

The final photo from this location is a painting. The story doesn’t tell, whether it is by one of the inhabitants, or bought from somewhere.

But that concludes this exploration.
