Not Looking Like It, But A Church It Is

Welcome to yet another interesting location. This one here is the Jakomäki church in Helsinki.

Yes, it doesn’t look like it, but it is a church. Built in 1975 to a new suburb, it was abandoned in 2020 because of water damage.

The building was set to be demolished, so of course I arrived to see, if there was anything to photograph.

Use forbidden, the sign says.

And on the next door it was stated, that the building will be demolished.

Let’s walk around it.

Looks like quite a standard 1970’s building to be a church.

But a church it was. And it was all closed doors.

The building was demolished later in 2023.
