Looked Wrong, Turned Out Right Part II

While I was looking for the old copper plant staff apartment area, which was demolished, I stumbled upon these buildings.

But pretty soon I noticed, that something was different. The copper plant staff apartment buildings were wooden, these were made of bricks. This was something different.

And indeed, these were the staff apartments of a nearby sulphuric acid factory. Built in 1945 the two family houses were beautifully renovated and inhabited, the row houses closest to the factory were empty. All were protected, though.

Somehow the surroundings were pretty confusing. In addition to the boarded up houses there was something, which looked like a race car pit stop with barrels, tires and an old truck.

I didn’t count the number of houses, but there were several of them.

And this is what looks like a Magirus Deutz firetruck from the 1980’s. Why it has ended up here abandoned from Germany is a great mystery.

Another house.

And it looks like apartment number 2 will reveal its secrets to me.

This looks even more promising.

A tiny bathroom with most of everything removed.

A kitchen with lots of cupboard space – and quite vintage doors and handles.

This one looks especially creepy for a basement. A definite no go.

The mystery of the missing bathroom equipment has been solved. At least partially.

Not sure when this place has been inhabited, but the last renovations were conducted decades ago.

In addition to the living room there was a bedroom. This is a pretty standard layout of an aparment for not so high ranking staff.

There wasn’t very much to see in the apartments. But I decided to try another one anyway.

And number six seemed to be welcoming.

Turns out, the layout was exactly the same.

Just a different kind of interior and a leakier roof.

All apartments probably had the same layout, so there was no point in entering more. Here’s a photo of the inhabited houses nearby.

What will happen with this location is a bit unclear. The houses still are protected and no change of detail plan is pending.
