Earlier that year I had a new Instagram follower from the area I was currently visiting. They had given me a few tips about abandoned places in their area, and of course I had to go take a look at them.

And there is the first one. It’s an old mill, which has been abandoned for decades.

A beautiful old building in a very bad shape.

My connection was unsure, if there would be a way in, but I wanted to give it a try.

And indeed the windows and doors were blocked.

I was prepared to photograph the mill from the outside only.

Imagine my surprise, when I actually could squeeze myself inside through a window.

The downstairs was dark and full of thrash. And I was wearing flip flops.

The grain has moved in this, eh, thing?

There was also some old and surprisingly modern machinery.

As there wasn’t much to see downstairs, I moved on up. The stairs seemed pretty sound.

Well, at least there was more light.

The systems of the mill seemed very primitive.

The second floor was pretty quickly seen. Moving on up again.

The attic.

The machinery extends all the way to the top.

I attempted something artistic. I’m not really sure I nailed it.

That was the final photo from the top. Now I’m in the last corner of the ground floor, where there seems to be some sort of a cold storage.

And this is the pile of junk I had to cross to reach it.
In 2023 a local couple purchased the mill for one euro with the aim of repairing it. They’ve fixed its worst faults, but so far the building isn’t in use.
