Moving to the first back room of the building, the one of the children’s store. Looking at things here makes me wonder, if every single door and counter actually is from the very date the place was built.

The color of the roof seems to have changed, though.

When did they make things like this?

A fairly unsuccessful attempt to block one of the windows.

The front of the store with an interesting curtain arrangement. Could it be possible, that there once upon a time was a second doorway to the building? Maybe.

The door to the right leads to the small hall, through which customers of both of the stores entered.

There were people on the street, so we retreated back to the back room to check the back room of the back room.

A light room with lots of shelf space. Wonder, what this has been used for.

Sneaking through the children’s store. The only things remaining were some books. One of them is the Children’s bible, the other one a book on children’s rights in German. The latter one is a fairly interesting thing again.

Moving on to the barbershop, which was a light, yet very small space.

They’ve still been advertising hair products in 2008, not too long before the closure.

The two cars on the yard are a 1990’s Seat Toledo and 2000’s Fiat Punto. Originally there was a small old villa, where a sock and chemicals shop was located. It vanished from maps in the 1980’s. There was even a third residential building on the lot. It’s visible in the 2009 Google Maps photos, but in 2012 it’s no more.

Looking further back towards the barbershop.

And behind the corner. Not much to see here.

A busy road runs right behind the bushes there. There are plans to make it a more urban street with blocks of flats bordering it all the way through. Some of them have already been built, others are being planned.
But there are no plans concerning this lot. The detail plan is from 1989 and no application to change it has been made.

So time to head back towards where we came from.

And that’s the light at the end of the basement tunnel. What is upstairs, remains a mystery, as there was no access there.
