Hiding in the woods near a busy road was this tiny beauty. What makes it special is its architecture. It is of a functionalistic style common in Finland in the 1930’s and 1940’s, but the style is more common seen in larger buildings, which usually are made of stone and designed by architects.
There are lots of small, wooden functionalistic homes designed by others than architects. But this was the first time that I actually found one abandoned.
The house was in a rather bad shape, as can be seen.
The door was bolted shut like this. There was no ordinary lock. Having home doors unlocked is quite common in rural Finland.
This looks like a way in.

Similar to the previous location, this house had a large wood stove and a small, very old electric one.

Another look at the kitchen.
We had a couch just like that in our summer cottage when I was a kid. Oh the nostalgy!
But I do wonder, how the plastic bag has ended up here. That logo of the grocery store chain hasn’t been in use for too long. Yet the driveway to the house is so overgrown, this stuff has been here for years.
It looks a bit like this building has spent its last years as a storage. There are a bit too many couches lying around.

So this is the main entrance. It looks like it has originally been just an open porch, which explains why there’s no lock on the door. The door ahead of me is the one, which was originally locked.
