I Followed Signs

Earlier that spring I left my apartment, noticed that I had gotten a new neighbour, said hello and went on. Then I had a second look. He was my former colleague. I had known him for at least five years.

That summer he threw a housewarming party. I told people there I was about to go on a roadtrip for a couple of weeks to photograph abandoned houses. One of the guest said that on the street of their childhood home was one abandoned one family house. They gave me the address, and I was instantly familar with the place.

While still studying I met this lovely girl. I fell in love with her, she didn’t fall in love with me, but we became friends. As she was moving to the Southern Finland, I wanted to give her something special as a gift. I chose to do my ultimate love deed and steal her a sing of a road with her name.

It was this street. The people in the party found the story hilarious. And I found their tips useful.

And so I have returned to the crime scene.

Unfortunately the house was locked, so I couldn’t commit any more crimes.

But I had received other tips at the same party, which I was about to check out now.

  1. I still remember my first love. Her name was Allegra, and we were both 16. I was madly in love with her, but unfortunately she was immature and intent on making her family happy by marrying a man, despite the fact that she was a lesbian. We dated for awhile, but her immaturity got in the way of our relationship progressing. Eventually, she married a man she didn’t love, had three children with him, and divorced him. She came around and asked if there was any chance of us getting back together; I declined. I still think about her from time to time; one never forgets their first love.

    1. Thank you for sharing. One never forgets their first love. In fact one never forgets any of their loves. Sometimes the loved ones only realize the worth of the love they would have received, when it is too late.
