Swiping My Way To The Local Paper Part II

Moving deeper inside the building past a boat engine. There was a way upstairs, where there probably had been apartments, but the downstairs ceiling was in such a bad shape, I decided against going there.

Moving towards the former store. All kinds of random stuff was stored there.

I think the decision to skip the upstairs was wise. All kinds of things were hanging from the ceiling even here.

The slogan of a brand of beer. Oh the amount of memories from childhood that one brings. The song in their commercial lives rent free in the heads of my generation.

The back door of the store with cold rooms.

And more stored random stuff.

Even construction equipment such as pipes and insulation can be found here.

Moving deeper back in the storage wing.

Uncovered windows. Wow!

This was indeed a former co-operative store. This logo is iconic, and I can remember it from older stores in my childhood despite it being in use only between 1979 and 1985 when I wasn’t even born. I’m just guessing, but maybe this store closed down in the 1984 merger of the co-operatives in the region.

“Successful agriculture trade”, the sign says.

The very back of the building was just cold storage space.

More views from the unhealthy looking ceiling.

Even fuel has been sold here back in the days. The prices are in pennies / litre, which means, that this was very long ago. Just before the conversion to euros, a litre cost 5-6 marks.

As I have more than enough reasons for not going upstairs, this concludes the exploration.
