So this is how it looks from this side.
There’s a railroad running right behind the building. I’ve been watching it almost weekly from train windows for three years now wondering, what it is. And finally I have the chance to see it with my own eyes.
I’ve always thought, that it is a public building of some sort: a school, an association building or something like that.
I was right. It’s a former school built in the late 19th century and enlarged in the 1920’s. A larger school was built behind it in the 1950’s, but the wooden school remained in school use. It was last renovated in the late 1970’s and abandoned in the 2000’s.
The town has tried to sell the school for years. The original deal was, that the building should be dismantled log by log, moved away and rebuilt elsewhere. Nobody wanted to buy it.
They now were willing to sell it with the land it stood on.
It looks like there is indeed a gap in the protection.
And that the chair could act as a step.
The first view inside. The town had already done some preparatory work demolishing all the insides so that the buyer could just dismantle the logs.
For one reason or another there were still old school desks and chairs inside.
The black stuff looked a bit like tar. I wonder, if somebody has again tried to burn down the place.
Even the floor had been demolished in some of the rooms. The vandals have found this a nice place to toss some chairs to.
It loks like the roof hasn’t appreciated the demolition of a load bearing wall.
There really wasn’t much to explore here.
