Not A Single Broken Window In Two Years

The more I tour, the more I will visit locations, which I visited during my epic first Tour de Finland and my more chilled second Tour de Finland. They are all locations, which I would have liked to visit, but never got the chance.

Some open after several attempts like the co-operative store and block of flats. Some stay as closed as ever like the Swedish speaking elementary school. The key is to try and try again until the places are eventually demolished or find new use. More often it is about demolition.

This building here is the mental asylum featured in this post. As I’ve already told its story, I won’t tell it again. You can find it behind the link. The key point is, that nothing much has happened since.

The photos from the earlier post were taken in 2020, these are from 2022. I don’t see any change in the condition of the property.

I mean not a single window is broken.

The building has pretty much stood here untouched for years. The nursing home next door might have something to do with the fact that vandals haven’t found it.

This building has originally been nurse apartments. It was connected to the main hospital with this canopy. The nursing home can be seen in the right corner of the picture.

The main entrance. There’s something very warming in the use of wood, tiles and copper here.

The staff apartment building from another angle.

And the main hospital, which is of my favorite 1950’s architecture.

The facade revealed no new open doors. I’ll just have to come back time and time again.

But before that, it’s time to check out another mental asylum.
