The third building of our exploration was a former youth association house. Hundreds, if not thousands of them were built around the country by locals to serve as local culture venues. As villages have emptied and people living in rural areas have grown older, many of the associations have issues with their buildings now.
My friend told me, that we visited this place in our youth, probably in the spring of 2009. That would make it one of my first explorations. But as I have no memories of this, we’ll just call this number 178 for me. If we manage to get in.

An interesting sight, two dolls making out on the window board.

The entrances to the building were at the back. The main entrance for the public has once featured a porch, which has collapsed. There has even been a ramp for wheelchairs, which seems pretty advanced, considering, that the building has been abandoned for decades.

The front door was closed. But the back door further away was open.

So that was where we entered.

The first room here was a small kitchen, which was used to serve the public attending events.

A booklet with a lot of different things. The date on the handwritten notes is from the 1940’s.

There was a small backstage room with loads of paper. Let’s take a closer look.

The ad of a folk dance event from 1962. I do think I know one person, who attended them. At least one.

And the programme of another folk dance and folk music festival from 1986.

Youth association news from 1952 addressed to the head of this particular youth association. Well, I’m a youth association chairman myself nowadays, but we don’t receive things like this, sadly.

There was a door from the back stage to the scene. There, the set of the last play of the association is still visible.

The velvet curtain blocks the view from the scene to the audience. From here the bad condition of the building is starting to become evident.

The fuse panel of the building. The light coming through the roof is not a good sign.

More parts of the set on the other side of the stage.

The back of the stage. The last play of the association has had something to do with nature, I believe.

The back of the oven was on the stage. Hopefully the performers were warm.
Time to go a bit backwards. But that is of course the topic of the next post.
