Was A Mystery, Remains A Mystery

Once again my adventures took me to the tiny village of Haapamäki, which formerly was a very important place with railroad connections to all directions. Once again there were a few more empty lots, once again I was facing this old cutie.

This of course is the former elementary school of the village, which has previously been featured here. It was empty a year earlier, and its status hasn’t changed. Quite the contrary, it was now certain that it would be demolished.

The amount of broken windows had increased since my previous visit.

The clocks had stopped.

Some of the doors were shut with a plank.

And all ground floor windows covered with plywood.

It seemed like there had been vandalism, but all possible points of entries had been covered.

The back side was almost untouched.

As was the gym wing.

A few months later my old colleague posted a photo on Facebook stating that their childhood school was being demolished. And so another location, which I so much would have liked to visit, vanished forever.
