A new day, another adventure. This time I have found myself in a former station village. The trains haven’t stopped here in years, and this usually means that there’s something to be found.

Such as this small house on an overgrown lot.

Amazingly enough the door was unlocked. And inside I was greeted with this mess of old newspapers.

This commercial dates back to the early 1980’s. That was 40 years ago.

An 1,5 kilogram box of cream crackers? What kind of a masochist has lived here? Nobody would eat that much of them in a lifetime.

One corner of the room contained more old papers and old clothes.

Moving on from the hall to the first rooms. I soon noticed that the house wasn’t standing straight anymore. The floor felt soft and was tilted to one side. The foundations had failed.

What a lovely color of yellow.

I’m not really sure if that one lonely narrow board will prevent anyone from entering, but ok.

The same story goes on in the second window.

Also have a closer look at the junction of the wall and floor. You can clearly see how much it is bent.

The two rooms had a similar heating system.

The old chairs were almost the only furniture left.

Moving on to the colorful kitchen.

I wonder, when exactly did the flowers die.

I’m still finding it hard to believe that the place would have been abandoned for almost 41 years.
But we’ll have to explore further to find it out.
The house is surprisingly intact, though, after fourty years of sun and snow. But exploring the abandoned house is such a cool thing:)
It was indeed. The only visible damage was the floor, which had partly collapsed. The roof has been a solid one!
