As my tour the previous summer had been so extensive, I had managed to accumulate a comprehensive list of locations, which I wasn’t able to explore the previous summer, but would give them another go. This mental asylum was one of them. As I’ve told its history in a previous post, I won’t go back to it anymore. However, things were changing.

This is the former sauna building. It looks old, but was in fact built in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s. When the town took over the hospital area, it was put up for sale in an online auction. The conditions were, that the buyer must dismantle the building log by log and transport it away. And that is exactly what is happening right now.

An auxiliary building of the old hospital. It was looking as bad as it looked a year earlier.

The mansion, where the mental asylum originally operated. No new use has been found for it.

I still have to admire the local youth. The place has stood empty for a long time, and everything is still intact.

The main entrance.

And the mystery building, which turned out not being a part of the hospital. I already know its story by now, but I didn’t back when I took the photo. So you’ll just have to wait for it.

The first peeks inside the mysterious building, which I still keep a secret.

And so it was finally time to approach the main hospital building. There wasn’t even a single broken window the previous summer.

Everything is just as it was.

Although I was pretty critical of the hospital’s architecture the last time around, I’ve sort of grown to like this early 1960’s low and wide brick architecture. In addition to this hospital, many schools were built in a similar way.

Car idling forbidden.

The back side of the hospital with less space for patients and more space for hospital infrastructure.

The courtyard behind the hospital. The old ambulance and the second VW Transporter have vanished since my previous visit.

The E-shaped wings behind the hospital.

The patients were enjoying a beautiful scenery.

A view to one of the courtyards of the hospital.

And here we have the first signs of vandalism. The stupid thing is, that the window has been broken just for fun, not to access the building.

A second broken window. Maybe the vandals in this town are not as hopeless as I thought.

A second courtyard. This one was pretty much overgrown.

Another broken window. Hopes of finding a way inside pretty much doubled at this point.

There was even an open door. Unfortunately the door behind it was locked. The toilet seat seems a bit lost.

Another, overgrown courtyard.

And the final wing of the hospital. The blinds look a bit like someone has been messing inside, but there was no way to find that out.

This is a rather strange detail. The sticker of a roadside bus stop and restaurant from Southern Sweden. The place has been closed years ago.

The mini golf course still remains stored at the back.

Old and new.

And one final corner of the hospital.
Unfortunately these were the last photos I ever got from this location. The 1960’s hospital building was demolished later in 2021. The mansion remains.
