My next destination was a small town far away. Originally it probably wouldn’t have been on my list, as that was where my previous summer car had broken down, and I’m sort of superstitious.
But I’m also a big fan of stupid jokes, and around a year earlier I had made an Instagram story about one of my tattoos and a café, which together made a reference to a Finnish date reality show. I won’t try to explain it here this time. It’s about a fox entering a hole.
But this resulted me in getting to know the owner of the café via social media. We had never met, though. Eventually she moved to this small town and invited me to visit, if my pointless summer tours would take me that way.
As I’m always in for an adventure, of course they did. As she already knew that my summer was all about abandoned houses, she acted as my local guide.

She had found this abandoned one family home. It had somehow ended up in the ownership of the town, and it was on their list of buildings to be demolished.

The first challenge was to reach the door.

The curtain between the door and the frame looked promising. Unfortunately the only door to the building was locked.

The only thing that we could do was look through the windows. There didn’t seem to be much left.

Now this was a funny thing. With the upper part you can tell visitors, where you are. With the clock you can tell them, when you’ll be back. This has come in handy in this small town, as it is customary in places like this to just pop by for a visit without warning.
Of course it would serve burglars well, too, but in such small places they would instantly get caught.

In a few years time it will be impossible to reach the front door. The house will probably be gone before that.
