A Midsummer Adventure Part I

As I no longer had a summer car, I bought train tickets, which covered my entire holiday. The Finnish national railroad company started selling them some years ago and they covered a fixed amount of time during which you could book a ticket on any train. Well, I bought two of them to cover my entire holiday.

It was midsummer eve. I contacted a friend, who lived in a city with several promising locations. We met at the train station and embarked on a long walk.

The first location was a former plywood mill opened in 1920 and closed in 2010. The area was now being rezoned, and I had no hopes of getting in, but I wanted to give it a try.

And here we go. It looks like a part of the facility has already been demolished.

The place has been built in several phases. The following location is right next to it. It is the large, grey structure.

Another look at the old factory.

There was a fence around the area. In general it was well sealed.

More factory buildings and the majestic chimney.

A view of the more modern parts of the factory. The next location is again visible in the background.

It looks like the most modern section has been built on the top of the old factory.

This one looks like an office building.

Like I guessed: no luck entering.
