Oh The Decadence

Back in 1968 a local constructor built a motel by a busy highway. The building originally featured eight rooms and was operated by a state owned chain called Motorest. Back then it was the newest new.

Two years later the motel was extended with another 12 rooms. And there it served passengers for decades.

In the 1990’s the highway was moved a bit. Although the hotel was still visible to the highway, it was already quite a shady place. I could remember passing by it often when visiting family friends.

In 2009 charches were pressed on a torture like assault on the dancefloor of the restaurant in the motel now rebranded as a hotel. In 2010 the hotel was for sale in an auction, but no bid high enough was received. The place last made headlines in 2013, when a nazi era German war flag was flying in its flagpole.

I really didn’t know what to expect.

Just as I remembered it.

Well it certainly doesn’t look like it’s an active hotel anymore.

Even some trees had fallen on the building.

Almost all curtains were closed.

At times it was difficult to photograph the motel through all the bushes.

The backside and a vintage Iveco.

More closed windows.

It again looks to me like the building isn’t standing very straight anymore. The change in building materials probably incicates, where the original part changes into the annex.

At this point the fairly strong smell of mold indicated, that the building couldn’t be used safely to anything anymore.

The jungle is growing.

The back of what probably are the reception and restaurant.

The architecture was rather dull.

Moving back to the front. Another dead end, it seems.

Flags of a petrol station can be seen reflected in the window.

Nope, no entry. But this place really gave me the creeps.
