In mid-June that year my friends were throwing a party. They invited us over to celebrate their friendship. The surprise was, that they were getting engaged.
This friend of mine had told me, that they had long wanted their talented painter friend to paint them nude. As the friend had unexpectedly decided to quit painting, my friend now asked, if I could photograph them. Of course I said yes. It would also be my gift to them.
I travelled to their home town, we went to the quarry I had found some four years earlier and got the photos. We probably caused some irreversible trauma to some teenagers swimming there, too. The following day we had a lovely party.
On my way there and on my way back from there I had time to visit some locations, which I had in my neverending Excel. And the first one of them really was special to me.

This here is an ordinary rural village school, nothing special about it. Except, that for me it was special. When I read the first news about its possible closure way back in 2012 and saw a picture of it, I sort of just wanted to have it as my summerplace. The school operated for years after that.
But in 2022 it finally was in such a bad condition, that it was closed and the pupils moved away. These are my first photos from the school, when it has already become a former school.

The front of the building seen from the back of the yard. The school was originally opened in 1948.

I always thought that it was a one storey building. Turns out, that there were three of them.

The school seen from the back.

Luckily the building had stayed intact.

One final photo. The school was auctioned in late 2024 and sold to a local company for 5000 euros. I haven’t been there since, so I don’t know what use the new user has found for it.
