I spent a whole lot of time travelling the Åland islands and the Turku Archipelago. I didn’t expect to find anything, I didn’t find anything. My next stop was in a village all too familiar. Our family friend had lived in there back in the early 1990’s, and there was an old school building there, which had recently made headlines.
The municipality was going to renovate parts of the school and build some new premises. That would mean, that an old school building from 1939 would be demolished. Of course I wanted to go and have a look at the old building.

And here it is. My first reaction at the demolition plans was “what the fuck?”. This is a completely unique school building. I have never seen anything like this in Finland. And they want to demolish it.

The front of the building. My reaction still remains the same.

There was no way in and no newer news than the 2021 demolition plans. I stand by with what I said. This building should never be demolished.
So let’s wait and see what happens.
