After breakfast we continued our trip. The next abandoned destination was an old school built in the late 1930’s. It had been emptied in 2019 partly due to bad condition and partly because the area is loosing inhabitants at such a rate, that there are too many schools.
Once again it’s a familiar story. The building is protected in the detail plan, but the town wants to change the plan so that the building can be demolished. The authorities then appeal the decisions and the administrative courts overturn them. This round has been done at least once with this building.

Once again, beautiful pre-war functionalism. This beauty should never be demolished.

The local village association has also been battling for preserving the school. They would like to use it in their own events. The town hasn’t been very willing to accept it because of the upkeep costs.
In this bulleting they are asking people not to vandalize, as they are negotiating buying the place. When the town offered it up for auction earlier in 2022, no offers came.

The building is perhaps more beautiful from the back.

The other side.
Again, what a waste.
