Another familiar view, just slightly different than the last time. Around five months have passed since I last stood at this driveway. Back then everything was covered in snow.
This is of course the Swedish speaking elementary school, which is supposed to be demolished to make way for a daycare center. The project has been delayed, and so the school still stands.
All in all I think it’s a really nice building and it would deserve a different kind of fate. Unfortunately I’m not the one making decisions.
The school was originally built in the 1930’s and enlarged in the 1960’s. I wasn’t sure, which part was which, but I believe that the higher wing to the right is entirely from the 1930’s. That ugly thing up front is definitely not.
I am guessing, that this later addition houses the school gym.
Several of the windows are broken. I hope that there is a way in.
There has been vandalism. The question is mainly about who made it here first: me or the city property caretakers.
Maybe here’s a way in.
So they’ve blocked the windows with plywood and punched a hole through the glass to lock the door with a chain? This is the most innovative way I’ve seen yet.
So no way in. I hope they got good pictures of me!
