My winter holidays continued with a stay in perhaps the most famous hotel in Finland. I couldn’t have affored it otherwise, but they did have a good covid-deal…

Built in 1903, this hotel has been chosen as the most beautiful building in Finland at least twice. But I’m not going to spend my time writing more about it, as it is very much in use.
I knew of my trip several weeks before. Between my booking and my stay I had to call a person working with property management in this town. The call was related to my work. I told him about my upcoming vacation and asked, if he knew about any locations I could visit. He mentioned this one, which was literally standing on the front yard of the hotel.

This building was built in the 1920’s. It had been a hotel, a bookstore and housed a lot of other businesses before being abandoned. The town bought it in 2015 and decided to demolish it due to its bad shape. The move was disputed.
I was told that I would get access to the place when I arrived to the town, I just had to give them a call. But guess what. I never called.
In fact this is the only photo I ever took from the building. I didn’t take another one in the summer of 2021, when I visited the town again, neither did I take any photos in 2022, when I again visited the town.
The building was demolished in the autumn of 2022. A parking lot now occupies the site.
