Another property we discussed with the town’s property manager was located just a block away. But remember, I still hadn’t called him. So I actually stumbled upon this place, when I went to buy some bath foam for my bubble bath that evening.

Originally built as a bakery in the 1920’s, it was enlarged several times. After baking ended, it was converted into a community center in 1989. It was closed down in the 2010’s because of bad condition and issues with air quality.
The building was protected, yet the town managed to change the detail plan so, that demolition was allowed. It was just around the corner.

Surely enough demolition started around a week later.
At this point I would like to ask, what the hell was wrong with me? I had the chance of a lifetime to enter two interesting locations with permission, yet I passed the opportunity.
In fact it even seems that I didn’t have my new camera with me at all, as all of these photos have been taken with my mobile. All of this is extremely puzzling.
There were so many times when I was younger that my ex-girlfriend would tell me that I’d have to return without her to photograph abandoned places. Of course, this was just her way of preventing me from doing so, as I can think of several places that I planned to photograph, but never did. Luckily, my wife, Amelia, actually encourages me to photograph places whenever possible, because as we all know, most places don’t stick around forever. 🙂
