The following morning at about 10 am I got a call from the workshop. My car was ready for pick up. And a few hours later I was standing in front of this building.

If you’ve been following this blog closely, this is an all too familiar story. The building is a mental asylum built in the 1950’s and enlarged in the following years. It was closed down in 2008, as it was considered outdated and its patients were moved to the central city in the region. After that it served as a private nursing facility, but has since been completely abandoned.

The architecture of the building was quite different from the other abandoned mental asylums I had visited.

There were several buildings in the area.

The one up the hill looked a bit like a staff residential building, although this is again just another one of my guesses.

Although without use, all the windows and doors were intact. The property was for sale during the time of my visit, so the owner wanted to keep it in good shape.

Another view of the main complex. The building to the right can be seen in the first pictures. It is connected to another wing with this strange looking part.

This view is from behind the other wing.

And this one of the middle part connecting the buildings. When comparing old maps, this part has appeared since 1984.
There really wasn’t much else to see here. So on we go.
It is strange for me with all those deserted buildings, some of them fully functional and looking as if some disaster have hit them and that there were no time to take care of the interior things, so they were left as they were when the disaster occured. I wonder if there are a lot of deserted houses like this also in Sweden.
Tuo on ainut tämännäköinen laitos koko Suomessa.
