Swiping My Way In Part VII

You probably guessed quite right. The only thing I hadn’t yet found was the school gym.

There was a healthy amount of mattresses around the place. They could probably have covered the whole floor of the place.

The dressing rooms. These weren’t a nice place as a teen.

The final lost and found items of the place. Seems to include towels, gym clothes and a bottle.

The shower room seemed nice and clean. It had been renovated in the early 2000’s along with the rest of the building.

Something possible only in Finland: a sauna in a secondary school building.

This system doesn’t seem too modern.

A small storage room for gym equipment.

And a surprise: a second gym and assembly hall with a stage. The school was extremely well equipped for being in such a small town. The arts, music and gym facilities were a lot better than in my secondary school despite having studied in a rather large city. At least by Finnish standards.

Another entrance with a bike and miscellaneous sports equipment.

A small room for school staff.

And finally the stage of the second gym featuring a good collection of Nordic walking sticks on the wall.

Another exterior shot. The gyms were in the wing to the left, the classrooms in the one to the right. The corridor connects the secondary school to the former high school building.

One final look at the buildings from the front yard.

The town has since started building new premises for both the secondary school nearby and for the high school a bit further away. It is most likely that these buildings will be demolished.
