Bringing Wisdom To The Countryside Part I

Driving closer to yet another centre of a small municipality, which had lost more than half of its inhabitants in the past 50 years I spotted an old school. At first I thought it was just another old village school, but something made me turn around and have a second look. I really can’t tell what it was, I just got the gut feeling.

It was pretty apparent that it was a school, and it was in a pretty bad shape, too. I couldn’t be sure from this point, if it was abandoned or not, but I chose to approach it anyway.

From this direction it was apparent that the building was abandoned. Nobody grows a bush of birches next to a building voluntarily.

Not only was the building abandoned, it was in a very bad shape and had in fact partially collapsed.

The roof has fallen. Up front is class 7A so this seems like a very old secondary school.

Needless to say it was a very beautiful old secondary school.

A classroom, one of several on the first floor of the school.

Next to the classroom was a smaller room, which has been a storage and a study.

Another classroom. A surprising amount of cleaning equipment has been left behind. That is already the second hoover I’ve found.

This classroom has clearly belonged to younger pupils than 7th graders, and has been decorated with paintings of forest animals. I can at least spot a lynx, an owl and something, which I believe to be a wolverine.

The blackboard has gone missing. But luckily the screen for the overhead projector is still there.

A bear, more lynxes and a beaver have dound their way to the walls of this classroom.

A list of maps. The maps have gone missing, though.

A cute round window.

There was also an upstairs, but I decided against entering this time.

And here you can see the reason. The roof has collapsed right at the top of the stairs. I deemed the second floor to be unsafe so I kept exploring the downstairs instead.
