My Summer Car Is Really Made Of All These Things Season 3

It was again the time of the year, when I started looking a ride for my adventures. Back in 2020 I bought a 25 year old Volvo 850 with 700 euros and tried to visit every single current and former municipality with it. During the summer the brakes, the engine and gearbox all failed. Eventually the gearbox failure 50 municipalities before my goal ended my summer adventures.

I originally thought, that the summer car would be just a once in a lifetime experience. But when the summer of 2021 was getting closer, I realized, how much I missed driving and urbexing in the Finnish summer. My friend rented me her Volvo 960 for four months and I had a great and relaxing time travelling without any big plans, goals or challenges.

But already after that summer I started hatching a new plan in my mind, and for that I needed a car, which had to meet quite a lot of conditions. Yes, it had to be another Volvo. I had so far had six of them, and absolutely refused to get anything else. And it had to be a station wagon, so that I could sleep in it.

To avoid expensive renovations and other issues, I wanted to buy a car old enough not to have anything complicated in it. A car, which any village workshop could fix, if something happened to it. This also meant, that for the first time in my life I wanted to buy a car with manual transmission.

I was initially looking for a Volvo 240, as I had wanted one since my childhood, but it soon started to look impossible. Even the worst wrecks cost more than 2000, for a proper one you had to pay more than 3000 euros. I didn’t have that kind of money.

So I next turned my attention towards old 940’s, which basically have the same technique, but aren’t quite as legendary. There was one, which I got a good gut feeling about and I called the owner after receiving my yearly bonus salary. I told him my plan and they said they believed it could be achieved with their car.

Two days later I was on the train. I took a short test drive, negotiated 100 euros away from the price and got my third summer car for 1700 euros. And here she is.

29 years of age and 423 000 kilometers behind, but she’s a beauty. My cars always have names, and I thought about this one a lot. I wanted to name her with a Swedish name popular in the 1990’s, and eventually she became Alice. She’s named after Alice in Wonderland, because Finland is a wonderland.

I know, that you wonder what my plan for the summer is. Wait for the next post to find out.

But I can already tell you, that she became a legend. She now has her own Instagram and Onlyfans. Feel free to follow!
