Having lived in several cities and being a social creature, I’ve developed quite a network of friends around the country. After saying goodbye to my childhood friend, I travelled to another town nearby to visit my high school friend. She said she knew some locations, I was happy to have her as a guide.
But first we went to a location chosen by me.

This piece of 1970’s architecture is the town hall of the small railroad town of Pieksämäki. It was built in 1973 and abandoned because of air quality problems in 2015.

It certainly divides views. As a fan of 1970’s estethique, I found it rather beautiful in all its ugliness.

Bad photos through windows were all there was to achieve here. It looked like most of the furniture was still inside.

According to the note, they were playing airsoft inside. Quite a downgrade: from a landmark to a mere airsoft hall.

Moving on to the back side.

It seems that they had taken some samples of the building, probably to see the levels of asbestos before demolition. Because that was what was awaiting the town hall.

The back side facing a lake. Somebody has tried to break the glass panels, which cover the walls.

And finally the scenery from the back. The town hall was overlooking a park and a lake. Really beautiful.
The building was demolished the following spring. The park is now a bit bigger.
