A Guide To Karelia Part II

It was getting dark, but we had finally managed to enter my favorite region in Finland: Northern Karelia. And what would our adventure be without going to have a look at the tallest structures in the region and one of the tallest mining towers in Northern Europe.

Here we go, the tower of the former Keretti Mine, the newest and last mine in Outokumpu. I have of course told you all about it in a previous post, so you might as well go rehearse a bit.

The tower actually still has electricity as there is a light on top of it to warn planes.

The gate was chained. Although that chain has seen better days, it was still a chain and so I stayed yet again outside the old mining area.
